I Am Grimalkin (The Last Apprentice / Wardstone Chronicles #9)

From the publisher:
"I'm coming for you, and nothing living or dead can stop me."

One witch is the most feared, the most ruthless, and the most deadly of all the witches in the county. If she hunts for you, she will find you. If you have crossed her, you don't stand a chance. She is the witch assassin, and her name is Grimalkin.

Grimalkin's one alliance is with Tom Ward, the Spook's apprentice. With Tom, she plans to rid the world of the most terrifying evil, the Fiend, who once did her great wrong.

For the first time, fans of the Last Apprentice series will hear the story from Grimalkin's side, as she is hunted herself by creatures of darkness set on revenge.

Grimalkin has never been defeated. But can she survive an enemy created for the sole purpose of destroying her?

We get the POV of someone beside Tom. This book is the story of Grimalkin.

We pick up right after the binding of the Fiend. Grimalkin is traveling in the county constantly on the run, trying to stay ahead of the enemies that are perusing her.

This book brings in an enemy that Grimalkin might not survive if fought. The whole book sees us running around the county with Grimalkin trying to keep the head away from the company that is trying to kill her.

Along the way, we meet Thorn a girl that Grimalkin was training to take her place one day. Everywhere we go into the story, no matter where we go Grimalkin tells us her life story. It is very interesting and quite enjoyable.

The story as a whole was not a fluid and engrossing as others I have read in this series, however it does serve a purpose. We find out that Tom needs to go back to Malkin tower to read the books that his mother had left him. We also find out something very interesting about his mother as well as a critical junction is met with the sister that reside in the tower.

Alice makes an appearance, white hair and all to help Grimalkin win the final battle at the end of the book. One has to ask, how the dark will effect Alice...I guess, it is onto book ten.

I drained her blood, then I took her bones........
