Wild Man

Wild Man by Kristen Ashley

While filling her display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O’Hara looks up and sees the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. Thirty seconds later, she says yes. But after four months of falling in love, she discovers he’s an undercover DEA Agent investigating the possibility she’s involved in her ex-husband’s drug business

Obviously Tess decides this means it’s over.

But DEA Agent Brock Lucas disagrees. A man on a mission who’s really committed to his job, he’s spent years in the underbelly of Denver with the dregs of society. And spending four months with Tess who’s as sweet as her cupcakes, he seriously enjoyed his job. But during Tess’s interrogation, Brock learns the devastating secret Tess is carrying and he’s determined to be the man who helps her heal as well as take her back as she walks on the wild side.

As wild and sweet mix, they face challenge after challenge of family struggling with history and terminal illness. Not to mention, Tess’s ex-husband, the drug lord and Brock’s ex-wife, who has a very big playbook are scheming to tear them apart.

But Brock Lucas has wild in him and once in his past on the trail of vengeance he let that wild loose, making a mistake that he would have no idea years later will put his sweet Tess in the position to pay his penance.**

I started this book with the expectation that it would be good. I think so far out of the two book in this series it was my favorite! Brock may be a hard core bad boy but he's tender and sweet with Tess. After the upheaval had at the beginning of their relationship, they talked and figured things out after a three month break.

Tess is hauled in to be questioned. She doesn't know why all she knows is that she was in bed with her boyfriend Jake, he leaves and swat, DEA and someone else descends on her home and take her to be questioned about activities involving her ex-husband. She doesn't know anything about whats going on and after its proved she's free to go, funny thing is she sees Jake at the station, with a badge on. What the hell is going on!?? She's hurt and she tells him is over, he's kept things from her, including his name which is not Jake.

Brock gives her three months, space he calls it. Time to clear her head and think about all the shit that went down. Then he comes back and he wants his time, he wants to tell her his side of the story. He was there to watch her but something happened as soon as he saw her and it wasn't a job. He wants to see where this will go without his job in the middle.

After all of that it seems like they are just right together. He loves her so deeply, he takes care of her. He wants her safe and he wants her to feel safe with him. I loved the way they took care of each other once they were together, they stayed together, no bullshit " I can't do this or I can't be with you". They were united, even against his brother. Even when his ex started shit they rode out the storm.

I was glad to see that babe and baby was used but not as much as the first book. I enjoyed seeing the characters from the other book in this one. I was up reading again until 4 this morning. Running on 5 hours of sleep and seriously fighting to start the 3rd book in this series.  I have to fold laundry first though..  Damn it. Check it out. Hottie bad-boys are totally worth it!!
