Slammed

Slammed by Colleen Hoover

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she's losing hope.

Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.

Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.**

Once again I fought against my best friend. I don't know why I do it because she does know me so well. I gobbled this book up in a couple hours.

Layken doesn't want to move to Michigan. She's leaving behind the house she grew up in and the house that holds all the memories of her dad with them. They need to move back though to her mom's home town because the job her mom got pays more. She gets the reasons but she hates it.  When they pull in to the new house her little brother immediately makes a friend with the little boy in their yard, he lives across the street. Then she meets the boys brother, Will, and it is attraction at first sight. He's a cute, cute boy.

Will likes Layken as soon as he sees her. He takes her to a poetry slam and they just click.  After they have a wonderful time and spend some of the weekend getting to know each other its back to work at the high school. Third period rolls around and he's got a new student, Layken. He can't quit his job, he can't move to another school and he most certainly can't date a student.

How on Earth are they going to handle the attraction they have? Especially with their little brothers so close and always around each other. Something is going on with Layken's mom, too. Watching them was heart wrenching, they were so good together, they seriously just clicked like they had been in a relationship for forever. I inhaled this story and loved it. I laughed at Eddie, Gavin and Nick. I loved Kel and Caulder. This book was just an easy read. It had angst in it for sure but it wasn't unbearable. SO much going on and you've got to read it to find it all out. One of my favorites for sure!!!
