Knight Assassin

Seventeen-year-old Zayn has special powers she cannot control—powers that others fear and covet. Powers that cause the Templar Knights to burn Zayn’s mother at the stake for witchcraft. When a mysterious stranger tempts Zayn to become the first female member of the heretical Assassins, the chance to seek her revenge lures her in. She trains to harness her supernatural strength and agility, and then enters the King of Jerusalem's court in disguise with the assignment to assassinate Guy de Molay, her mother’s condemner. But once there, she discovers Earic Goodwin, the childhood friend who still holds her heart, among the knights—and his ocean-blue eyes don’t miss a thing. Will vengeance be worth the life of the one love she has left?

First, thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

At first, I didn't want to read this. However, once I got into it, I was surprised, in a good way.

I will not try to type any names, as I am sure that I will spell them wrong. This book hit me in the heart. Why, you ask? Simple, Assassin's Creed. Folks, I LOVE THOSE GAMES!!!! I kept waiting for Altair and Enzio to jump out and yell YOLO!

The story is set in Syria/Israel during the time of the Frankish influence and Zayn finds out how vengeful people can be. When she refuses the hand of a local lords son, she is raped after her mother is burned at the stake for witchcraft.

Zayn, wakes from the assault and is swept into the land of the assassins. She quickly has to decide if she wants love or revenge. Of, course I will not tell you anymore except for the following things.

1. If you like a political setting that is based in fact, then this is the book for you.
2. If you like Assassin's Creed, then this book will make you smile, while memories of the hours spent playing the games run through your head.

Maybe, fact two made this book enjoyable. Thinking about it, I truly enjoyed the historical side of the book.

Overall, a good read and you should check it out!
