Stranded with the Rancher

Stranded with the Rancher by Janice Maynard

For billionaire horse breeder Drew Farrell, the day starts with the usual argument with ornery neighbor Beth Andrews. But within minutes, he and the irritating beauty are huddled together in a storm cellar praying for their lives. They call a truce…and seal it with an unexpected kiss.

They emerge to a scene of utter devastation. Their passion to rebuild is only rivaled by the very personal passion they've just discovered…until Beth's past catches up with her, and a very different type of storm erupts…**

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the opportunity to read this for the Harlequin Monthly theme of  Rugged Cowboys.

Drew can't stand the way his neighbor's business disrupts the horses he has on his land. He breeds horses for millionaires, for the Derby or just because rich people want well bred horses.  The cars going up and down the road in between their properties spook his horses. So he goes to Beth's farm stand and tries to talk her in to moving her business in to town. He'll even help her relocate, but she's just as stubborn as he is. He waits until the last person has left her stand to try and get her to see reason and then the storm hits.. Its not just any storm its a tornado; a big, huge tornado.

Beth and Drew run to her storm cellar and barely make it in to it.  Beth is scared to death but realizes that if Drew wasn't there then she would of been terrified. Even though all they do is fight, she can admit that Drew is very attractive and now shes so glad he was there to fight with her because they're trapped in her storm cellar. Who knows when they'll get out so they just find comfort and I do mean just comfort in each other. Drew keeps Beth from breaking down and freaking out.

When they finally get out of the cellar, (they were trapped because her small car was tossed on top of the door) she finds that her house isn't livable. Drew offers her a place to stay at his ranch, that was barely damaged.  They call a truce for the time being and that leads to a friendship and much more.

I've always been a fan of enemies to lovers stories, and this one was no disappointment.  I was hooked from page one and I didn't stop until I had read all of the book. It was interesting to watch Beth run from love, and from a real relationship. All her life she's had to look out for herself and her brother, she doesn't know what its like to be in a committed and loving relationship. I loved watching it sink in that Drew wasn't playing with her and it was ok for her to love him back. She didn't have to wait for the other shoe to drop, he was staying around. Pick this one up, it's a great book and I look forward to reading the others in the series! Leave the author love in the form of a review.

Like I said before this was a Harlequin themed book for the month of October.

Next month's theme is ...............

Sexy Christmas! I look forward to seeing y'all then!
