The Definition of Icing

The Definition of Icing by Aven Ellis

Kenley Hunter finally has everything sorted out. Fresh from studying chocolate making in Europe, she's gambling everything on her new business, Confection Consultations.

All Kenley wants in life is people to take her seriously, to see the person on the inside rather than the blond beauty on the outside. While pursuing her passion of chocolate, Kenley discovered people seek her knowledge. They see past the exterior and fall for the chocolate delights in front of them.

So with work as her focus, Kenley is ready to start her career in Dallas. Men are out of her recipe, because she fears that once they get past her looks, they’ll be disappointed in what they find. Kenley decides she's all about the chocolate now.

Or is she?

Because a chance meeting with new Dallas Demon hockey star Nate Johansson might change everything. Sent to Dallas in a blockbuster trade, Nate is somewhere he doesn't want to be, for reasons that have caused him heartbreak on multiple levels. Nate knows he will never trust a woman again after what happened to him in Minnesota.

But when he meets a woman with an intriguing name and a passion for chocolate, Nate isn't so sure about his theory. And he might just learn a definition of icing other than the one used in hockey with Kenley as his guide... **

I loved the first one of this series and I didn't realize the second one was out until I saw someone tweet about it. I have to say I almost thought she wrote a sequel to the first. The heroines names are very similar, I even went to check my review for the first one to make sure it wasn't the same name.  Annny-who..

Kenley is strong, she's beautiful and she wants to make her own way in life. She doesn't want being pretty to be the only thing she's known for. Right now it seems that is all people see. She went to school and studied the chemistry of chocolate, not just how to make good ones but how to make great ones. She's been invited to be apart of a magazine article and she's hoping that they want to know about chocolate. When she gets there she sees athletes and other gorgeous women taking pictures, one couple she knows is Harry and Kylie, aka Dallas hockey star and his fiance.  When shes told they want her to be the sexy chocolatier she is upset. She refuses and a knight comes to her rescue, Nate Johansson, the new Dallas Demon player. He tells the photographer and assistant if they won't do the shoot the way Kenley wants hes out too. Why would he do that for a stranger? Why would she meet him when she's sworn off men?!

Nate is taking a break from women, his last relationship did not end well and he didn't want to come to Dallas. As soon as he's able he's hightailing it back to Minnesota.  Doing a photo shoot was good publicity and he wants to do good with the Demons so he has a chance of playing at least some this season. The woman at the shoot that is flustered and angry that they want to sex her up catches his eye and even though he isn't dating right now he can't leave her out to dry. Laughing with her, doing the shoot with her makes him feel like maybe women are so bad but when she asks him out he still says no and he regrets it big time.

Both of these two people have dealt with significant others that were poor excuses for human beings. It made them gun-shy. When they opened up to each other it was lovely and magical. I got butterflies and everything. They also because of this mess of ex's seemed much much older then they were. I loved seeing Harry and Kylie from the first book and see how they were doing. I hope we get more from the Demon's line up. I am really enjoying the athletes and the girls that love them. Leave the author some love in the form of a review!!
