Dashing Through the Snow

Dashing Through the Snow by Debbie Macomber

Ashley Davison, a graduate student in California, desperately wants to spend the holidays with her family in Seattle. Dashiell Sutherland, a former army intelligence officer, has a job interview in Seattle and must arrive by December 23. Though frantic to book a last-minute flight out of San Francisco, both are out of luck: Every flight is full, and there’s only one rental car available. Ashley and Dash reluctantly decide to share the car, but neither anticipates the wild ride ahead.

At first they drive in silence, but forced into close quarters Ashley and Dash can’t help but open up. Not only do they find they have a lot in common, but there’s even a spark of romance in the air. Their feelings catch them off guard—never before has either been so excited about a first meeting. But the two are in for more twists and turns along the way as they rescue a lost puppy, run into petty thieves, and even get caught up in a case of mistaken identity. Though Ashley and Dash may never reach Seattle in time for Christmas, the season is still full of surprises—and their greatest wishes may yet come true.**

I've made it no secret that I love Debbie Macomber books. It's always like coming home, since I've been reading her stories for more than ten years. Anymore though it feels a little bit like a let down. Not that the story was bad, it was a good story. I get so excited when an author I love puts out a new book and I get hyped up only to feel a little meh about the story.

Ashley is trying to go to home to Seattle for Christmas. She was given the time off last minute so she decided to go visit her mother as a surprise. She wasn't able to buy an airplane ticket, for some odd reason that the ticket agent wouldn't tell her. Then she tries to rent a car but isn't old enough. Her last ditch effort is to ride with the obnoxiously handsome man that was behind her in line (both airline and car rental), Dash.

Dash has to get to Seattle for a job interview. He doesn't want to ride with Ashley but he can't leave her stranded, she was going to let him ride along had she been able to rent the car. She's attractive but he's not looking for a relationship, of course! Ashley drives him crazy in good and bad ways but he can't help but like her.

They encounter so many bumps along the way, A puppy, bikers, kids that steal their licence plates and then Ashley is arrested by mistake. Getting to Seattle should've been an easy deal but it ended up being a crazy ride that left two people crazily attracted and meant to be.

So as I said it was a good story, I enjoyed it very much and it did not take that long to read. Loyal fans of DM will enjoy it too. I just felt like it was too easy for Dash and Ashley to end up together. Sure logic tells us that from the very beginning that they'd end up together but I just was left feeling like it was too easy and then *poof* it just ended. I'm not saying I needed to know how many kids they ended up having or if they even got married, just a little more past Hi mom, this is Dash and I love him. Maybe I didn't see something someone else did? Let me know your thoughts on the story!! As always leave some love in the form of a review!!
