Chasing Christmas Eve

Chasing Christmas Eve by Jill Shalvis

Meet cute...

Run for the hills—temporarily. That's Colbie Albright's plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie's so over it that she's under it. She's also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she's pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won't be a stranger for long.

Make merry...

Spence's commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn't have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot chemistry—he's got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself... just because she's gorgeous and a great listener just because she gets Spence immediately doesn't mean he won't be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock's ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime. **

Everyone gets stressed in life but not everyone is the adult in their families like Colbie has been for as long as she can remember. Now its too much and she's leaving, she needs a break and if she tells anyone they'll talk her out of it or make her feel guilty for wanting some time on her own. So she goes and she ends up in San Francisco at a certain fountain. What she wasn't expecting was to swim in said fountain. The man that fishes her out is gorgeous and helps her get dry and helps her with a place to stay.

Spence can't explain it but he likes Colbie. He doesn't do that. He has his core group of friends and other than that he keeps to himself. He's a selfish person, he knows this. His brain works on overtime all the time so having someone is hard because he forgets them. Not really forgets them but just doesn't make them the priority over work. Colbie makes him want to let things slide a little and makes him want to open up a little bit. But she's hiding something or is it someone? He thinks she's running from something and while he doesn't think she's there to take advantage of him he can't fully make himself open up more to her.

I loved this book. I love the playfulness we get to see out of Spence and Colbie. Both grew up and were adults before they really got a chance to be kids.  Together they learn that while people expect things from them sometimes its to be just who they are. I also loved seeing the other couples from other books.

I read this book when it came out but was having a heck of a time writing reviews for any book I read.

How about you? What are you all reading right now?? What is one book from 2017 that you have to tell someone about? Let me know! I'm always looking for new reads!
