Whiskey Rebellion

Whiskey Rebellion by Toni Aleo

I have to make the pain stop.

I want to feel alive, and I do when I’m drinking and partying the way I should have when I was a teen. Instead, back then, I was preparing to become the Whiskey Princess, a role assigned to me from birth.

A lady never drinks to the point of blacking out, nor does she go home with men she meets in bars. But I went home with him…Jackson.

He was more than just a one-night stand, but I learned that a wee bit late and he was gone. Or so I thought.

For when I return home, Jackson is there, and he finds out very quickly who I am.

Problem is, I’m not sure that I’ve ever known who I really am.

***

I can tell by looking into her blue depths that she’s absolute trouble, but I have to have her. It’s only for one night. Some fun, and I’ll be on my way. My time here is done, and I’m ready to move on to my next adventure.

What I don’t realize at the time is that she is my next adventure.

Lena excites me. She blows my mind. And her brogue? It has me in knots. I don’t even care about the rumors that surround her.

She’s hurting. I want to help her, but then my time is up.

Can I leave her?

I have to leave. I have no choice.

But I love her.**

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Once again, as it seems to be any more I was scrolling through facebook and saw an ad for a book, Whiskey Prince, I love books set in Ireland so I thought why not, it was free. I loved it, then I saw that there was a second book, Becoming the Whiskey Princess, so I snatched it up and read it. I was so happy when I saw that a third book was coming and it was Lena's story. You see her some in both books but you can tell there is more going on with her then you get to see in Declan and Amberlyn's story.

Lena does whatever she can to make the past leave her alone. She went away to Dublin to escape the memories that threaten to overtake her. She drinks, does drugs and sleeps with strangers. Now she's in London and she's lost, not lost directionally but in her life. She just can't go home, despite her brother wanting her to come home. One night she goes into a pub and meets Jackson. He's gorgeous and she takes him back to her hotel with him. She enjoys him, she feels alive with him but things happen and he's gone.

Jackson is on holiday, has been for a year and never stays in the same place for more than 3 months. On his last night in the pub in London, he meets Lena. She's sassy and take charge. He's enamored with her. He goes back to her hotel room with her and its electric. He also is thinking maybe she's a prostitute. After he asks where he should leave the money she explodes and he leaves. He enjoyed everything they had, he felt something more than a one night with her but he was so confused. He decides that instead of Scottland he'll go to Ireland. He loved her voice, and the lilt of her accent, he went to Ireland to be close to her. To Mayo, where she told him he'd see the most beautiful pace in all the world.

Declan calls and Lena has no choice but to go home, to be the Whiskey Princess she was raised to be. Little does she know that the man she was mad at and kicked out of her hotel room, the one she had a connection to is living in the same town, working on her families land and in the same pub that her brother met his love.

I loved the rawness that we feel with Lena, she has a lot going on in her life and she doesn't cope with it well. She doesn't talk about anything with anyone but Jackson has his own issues and helps Lena cope with things. He gets her to open up her shell and let him in. Lena wants to be the woman her family wants but with things done her way, not just perfect. She's flawed and she doesn't want people to hold her up on a pedestal. She wants to wear what she wants, and do her hair and makeup the way she wants. Getting her mother to see that she can still do good and right by the family in her own way is another challenge that she has to overcome. This series of books are beautifully written, they're funny, sexy and a have a challenge in them. Nothing is too perfect, it's real.

About the Author:

My name is Toni Aleo and I’m a total dork.
I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.
I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!
When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.
I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life… probably Belle.
… and did I mention I love hockey?
