Some Kind of Wonderful by Sarah Morgan
Her whole life, Puffin Islander Brittany Forrest has dreamed of adventure. And at the age of eighteen, she thought she'd found it in bad boy Zachary Flynn. But after just ten tempestuous, smoldering days, their whirlwind marriage went up in smoke, and Brittany resolved to put him out of her mind forever.
Zach knows he let Brittany down, but being back on Puffin Island and seeing Brittany again stirs up long-buried emotions. This daredevil pilot has never felt worthy of her, yet he can't stay away even when he knows the chemistry between them will only complicate his life.
As long, hot summer days on the beach dissolve into sultry, starry nights, Brittany and Zach find that the sparks between them are more powerful than ever. Could it be that the second time around, their dreams of a happy-ever-after will finally come true?**
Thanks to Harlequin and NetGalley for the copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.
I've read some of Sarah Morgan's books, and I enjoyed them. I have the first of this series but I hadn't gotten a chance to read it. This one I think would be fine to read as a stand alone. I don't think that the first book would have much of an impact on the story of Brittnay and Zachary.
We meet Brittnay when she's on her way back to Puffin Island after a dig in Greece. She's an archaeologist. She's on her way home though because she broke her wrist and her time was basically done with there. She was looking forward to spending some time with friends on the island. What she didn't expect was her ex to be on the island. Bad boy Zach was living on the island for the time being and she was determined to show him that when he left 10 years ago it, it was in the past and she was going to leave it there. No matter what though sometimes you can't leave things in the past.
Bad boy or not? Zach is known on Puffin Island as the boy who broke Brittnay's heart, he married her then left 10 days later. It's been 10 years and they're both on the island for the first time since. He's not going to start something with her again but he's a little knocked off kilter by her cool act she has going on. Isn't she going to yell, scream or hit him? Most women in her position would. He left in the night with just a note to explain and didn't look back.
It did take me a few to get into the book but once I was in to it there was no stopping except to feed my family and take bathroom breaks. I loved that Brittnay truly tried to act indifferent, but she was human and couldn't help but be drawn to the boy that had stolen her heart so many years ago. Also I hated that everyone treated Brittnay like she was made of glass and still acted like Zach left her two days ago instead of 10 years ago. Zach had a lot of demons in his closet that he was fighting. He wasn't worthy of a real relationship with anyone, Brittnay or his pseudo parents. Like I said before it was a read that had me hooked. Let me know what you think of it, also leave the author love in the form of a review!!
