Fallout

This was a ARC sent to to me from the publisher and I wanted to post it on the blog.

The time is nigh people have always warned. This story is an example of the worst case scenario. Here we have a Category 4 Hurricane bearing down on the Gulf Coast. Yes, there was Katrina, but this one is different. Not only is this a powerful storm, but once it hits land the storm stalls and pummels a large swath of land. The devastation is unthinkable. Everywhere water floods the street, people are missing or dead. Power to large areas of the southern US is gone. This is a scenario that no one wants to go through.

Derek Marshall a outwardly, volatile man emerges from his storm cellar drunk. Once he realized that the storm was going to be epic, he decided his only recourse was the bottom of a bottle to help him through the storm. Upon inspection of the scene he finds a companion; an abandoned dog he conveniently named, "Fido".

Derek's relationship with his new friend was cut short when he received a call from his boss at NASA. Derek was instructed to go to Houston and take his prototype robot, "Number 5" with him. Derek's boss told him that a nuclear reactor was melting down and the nation needed him.

Once Derek arrives, he meets on Sambit Patel, a nuclear scientist. They are both tasked with finding the cause of the radiation leak and preventing a national disaster.

Both of these men are polar opposites. Derek, very openly gay and Sambit being from India has held his sexuality very secret.

They are locked in this plant with only a few workers that made it out alive. As the tension in the plant builds, so does the tension between these two men. Both know that they are not each other's typical choice of partner. They fight the urges, telling each other that it is the proximity to each other and not being able to leave that is driving their sexual urges through the roof.

It is Derek that makes the first move, kissing Sambit and telling him to, "see where this goes."

There was a continual dose of flirting from Derek with a hidden denial from Sam. Sam didn't believe that there could be something beyond the walls of the reactor. Derek was determined to prove Sam wrong.

The time eventually came when Derek had to leave an return to the devastation of his own life. Nothing could've prepared him for the reality awaiting him.

True to Derek's word, he kept texting and emailing Sam. Sam was as hesitant as ever.

Will these two end up together? How will this all end? I could tell you but I don't want to spoil this story.

I was surprised and I thank the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to review this novel on my blog! Hope you enjoy too!!!
