The Beginning The Four Series #1

They do exist and they always have. They live, love, and work amongst us and they are part of us. But they are different too, they are stronger and they live longer. They are the topic of many books, movies and myths, but their existence remains a secret, not everyone would accept them. And like us, they have those that are simply evil. Keeping these evil ones under control is the price they must pay to continue the lives they love. They must protect their human brethren from the Dark Ones, those that would rather kill than preserve.
Century after century the good battled the Dark Ones, always prevailing and preserving the lives of their beloved humans. In the 17th century, two powerful Dark leaders emerged, they organized their forces and a bitter war ensued. It was a fight to the death and the good thought they’d won. Four warriors led the battle, four warriors whose strength was beyond anything they knew, four warriors whose legacy had to be protected…
The good formed a consortium and with the help of a powerful sorcerer, a spell was cast; a spell that would follow the warriors’ lineage in case their power was needed again. The warriors are long dead, but their heirs are not, and now they must fight. The Dark Ones have re-emerged, they are more powerful, more resourceful and they want to control mankind and the world.

Summary: Via Goodreads

The story starts out normal, kinda cute with the lives of five friends. All five come from diverse background and families. Two are related, however none of them could ever imagine that journey they were about to embark in.

Each child started an an early age having hazy dreams. The bulk of the story is told from Clare's POV as she describes each dream. The dreams progress in lucidity as each child grows. There would be periods of time, where there would be no dreams. Each, leaving all parties, confused and scared.

One day, after almost ten years of these horrible dreams, the four found out that they all had the same dream. Pale creatures with elongated teeth combined with wolves all living in unison in a dark fortress deep in the unknown.

Clare, unlike the others kept seeing a pale skinned man. Random events throughout her life, she would notice him. Always in the distance, never approaching until one day he sat beside her on a bench in the park. Clare was terrified, however being curious, she found out his name was Charlie. Scared, Clare told her friends. All five, decided it was time to look into the dreams and their family heritage. The only person not effected by the dreams and now, the physical changes that were overtaking her friends, led the research party.

What they find out changes their lives forever, and I have to admit, I was not expecting the whole dream and Charlie connection. Margaret, has a good little story here and a nice plot, that I think will keep you interested. The only criticism, I have with this first book is the plot seemed jumbled for the first half of the book. However, once the action started, I was hooked. I am also wondering, if this series is going to keep the YA, fluff feeling. A man needs some four letter words, some UST, and some blood. Either way, a very good story and I am looking forward to the second edition.

Until next time,
