The Mistake

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.**

So Logan, I really didn't love him in the first book. It seemed like he was waiting for something to go wrong with Garrett and Hannah so that he could swoop in and steal her away for himself; and he really kind of was.  However, after reading his story I fell in love with Logan and ended up loving him more than I did Garrett.

Just like with Garrett, Logan was playing the field as hard as he was playing hockey. He didn't want a relationship and he enjoyed having different girls in his bed or in a random bathroom whenever he chose to. When he accidentally meets Grace one night and has an encounter with her he can't get her out of his head, mainly because she lied about finishing. (if you know what I mean *wink*) Determined to make sure she knows hes not a selfish lover he goes back to her place and settles up, then he realizes he likes this girl. Knowing what his life is going to be like after graduation he doesn't want a long term thing. He's going to be in hell. So he does something stupid and pushes her away.  It seems like its too late when he realizes he's just scared.

I loved that Grace didn't just fall at his feet after he screwed up. She wanted to cave many times but she didn't let his charm sway her until she was sure he wasn't just stroking his ego.  It was nice to be able to see Garrett, Hannah and to learn more about some of the other guys on the team. This is one series I am eagerly waiting for the next one. You'll want to jump in right now and hang on tight for the ride. Leave the author love in the form of a review.
