The Guardian (Dark-Hunter, #21; Dream-Hunter, #5; Were-Hunter, #8; Hellchaser, #3)

Dream-Hunter Lydia has been charged with the most sacred and dangerous of missions: To descend into the Nether Realm and find the missing god of dreams before he betrays the secrets that could kill her and her kind. What she never expects is to be taken prisoner by the Realm’s most vicious guardian…

Seth’s time is running out. If he can’t hand over the entrance to Olympus, his own life and those of his people will be forfeit. No matter the torture, Seth hasn’t been able to break the god in his custody. Then there’s the beautiful Dream-Hunter Lydia: She isn’t just guarding the gates of Olympus—she’s holding back one of the world’s darkest powers. If she fails, an ancient curse will haunt the earth once more and no one will be safe. But evil is always seductive...

I have been very critical about any book where a Dream Hunter was concerned in the past. Now that I am only two books away from being caught up, this book took me on an emotional roller coaster.

Seth was a character that I think will become one of my favorites. He was a young demigod in Egypt cursed by all and damned to a world in Azmodia (Hell). Noir, one of the primal gods that we learned about in other series is one of the two evil entities of evil and owner of Nick's father. Here, Seth is tortured withing an inch of his life over and over in some of the most grotesque manners a twisted mind could think of. His mind broken, faith in anything but pain gone, and Noir has one more task for him.

Find the Key to Olympus. He wants to destroy the god of Greece and take over the world.

Hence enter the Dream god Solin and his daughter Lydia. Her secrets are just as drastic as Seth's.

How can a man that has only know pain for thousands of years love someone?

How can a woman, racked with pain of what Seth does to someone she loves, find love in him?

All I will tell you is the rollercoaster that you are taken on is one that is harsh, and touching at the same time.

Do not miss out on this one.

Lastly, my heart grins with the realization that this series and CON are finally linking. I can see more and more similarities. Loving this ride!!!! More than Lydia on Seth's love stick.

Anyways, check this out and the other books in this long, yet amazing series.

Only one more till Styxx.

BTW I LOVE JADEN!!!! WOW I hope he gets a book!

Quotes:

“Lydia: Strange how you always remember the pain someone gave you, but seldom the hurt you caused them.”

“Safe. No one ever is. No matter how hard we try. No matter how much we plan and prepare. There will always be an enemy at the door and a storm trying to knock us down. Life's not about security. It's about picking up the peices after it's all over and carrying on.”

“Why lily?”
“It’s the most sacred and beautiful of all flowers in Egypt. They bloom in mud and shine in the darkness like a gift from the gods to remind you that no matter how bad something is, it will get better. That no matter how dark the night, the light will come for you. If you partake of them, they have the power to calm and soothe you, and to heal your wounds.” When he spoke his next words, they were laced with emotion and sincerity. “You are, and will always be, my sšn.”
