More Than a Convenient Bride

More Than A Convenient Bride by Michelle Celmer

After all they've been through following the tornado that hit their Texas town, there's no way Dr. Lucas Wakefield will let his best friend, Julie Kingston, leave because of a green card mix-up. The only solution is to propose marriage. But what starts as a platonic arrangement quickly blooms into red-hot desire—until Luc's ex-fiancĂ©e returns to reclaim herman and Julie questions whether happily-ever-after is in the cards. Good thing Luc has no intention of giving up his passionate new bride without a fight!

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for the book in exchange for an honest review.

I love being able to jump right into a book that is in a series I'm reading. Binge reading at its best!

Now to Julie and Lucas' story. I am a sucker for a friends to more story but this just seemed to be lacking something. It didn't seem like they really fought the more part enough. I don't know how to explain it. This story just fell a little short for me. Both Lucas or Luc as he is called in the book and Julie are great characters. He's honest and keeps promises. Julie isn't a typical woman, she knows that Luc's work is important and doesn't require extra attention and she doesn't over react when he has to work late for an emergency.

Julie is going to be deported if she doesn't find a way to stay, enter Luc, her best friend and boss and now her husband. Things don't have to change but it seems like things change immediately. Still Julie is holding back, she has issues from her father and from a past relationship. Luc was in a serious relationship once before but she broke off the engagement and left him broken hearted.  Now it seems that these two friends now lovers are headed in a direction neither of them thought was possible with the other. Luc doesn't want to say anything because he's worried Julie would run and Julie doesn't believe its possible to love him. Also the ex that left Luc suddenly shows up as one of his patients mother.  In the end I didn't get the community feeling I've gotten with the others in this series. I wish I could say that I did but it just wasn't there. This was a 2.5 rounded up to a 3 for me.

Let me know what you think!
