"If you ain't scared, you ain't human."
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He's surrounded by strangers--boys whose memories are also gone.
Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It's the only way out--and no one's ever made it through alive.
Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.
Kill Order was an interesting little slice of "Oh well" and I had to go on. I had to see what the hype was about.
As soon as I started this book, I was done. Sucked into a world that only a clever author could create.
The box brought Thomas to the Glade. With no memories, he only had feelings that something was familiar. He has to find a way to save everyone in the Glade before it's too late.
The great experiment. The world as we know it is over. There is a plague that has devastated the survivors of the plague. Humanity is desperate. They have to figure a way to save everyone.
Well, that is the impression that I am getting about W.I.C.K.E.D.. Even though, this statement is probably incorrect. That is what we can safely assume once the book is finished.
The plan. Simple, survive and escape the maze.
Each of the boys were selected for a reason. We see a society that has developed over the years, into a sense of normalcy. However, when Thomas arrives, everything changes.
There is a group of grievers that are mechanical nightmares that come out at night. They roam the maze, waiting for a stray boy to be out to late.
The sting of a griever with the serum that is given to the boys (along with other supplies by the "creators") sends someone through the changing. They get some of their memories back. When Thomas arrives, the ones that have gone through the changing, remember Thomas and do not like him.
Thomas has to deal with the harsh scrutiny of his peers. All the while, he wants to be a runner. This is one of the groups of boys that run the maze day in and day out, trying to figure a way out.
A couple days into his new life, the box brings another glader. A girl, named Theresa. She carries a cryptic note.
Everything the boys knew is over. They quickly figure out that they have to leave. This world is a test. Of what? No one knows.
The world inside this world is very convincing. I didn't want to give away much of the plot, just enough to wet your whistle.
Enjoy!
