Maybe This Christmas

Maybe This Christmas by Sarah Morgan

This winter, ex-skiing champion, reformed heartbreaker and single dad Tyler O'Neil has only one mission—making sure his daughter, Jess, has the best Christmas ever. The fact that his best friend, Brenna, is also temporarily moving into his chalet at the overbooked Snow Crystal resort is a delicious distraction he's simply going to have to ignore. Theirs is the one relationship he's never ruined, and he's not about to start now.

Ski pro Brenna Daniels knows all about the perils of unrequited love—she's been in love with Tyler for years. But living with him is absolute torture…how can she concentrate on being his friend when he's sleeping in the room next door? Then when Tyler kisses Brenna, suddenly the relationship she's always dreamed of feels so close she could almost touch it. Could this be the Christmas her dreams of a happy-ever-after finally come true?

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read the first two books in this series and I enjoyed them but I can honestly say that Tyler O'Neil is my favorite of the brothers. He's a bad boy, kind of, a dad and he's Brenna's best friend.  For as long as Brenna can remember the O'Neil brothers have been her friends except she's always loved Tyler as more than a friend. They are her feelings and she owns them and doesn't expect anything from it because she can't take the risk of telling him because she might lose him as a friend.  It doesn't help that when she was a kid she was bullied and told that he would never find her attractive. He doesn't see her that way so she keeps her feelings bottled up. When she blurts out to her mom that she's got a date with Josh, the sheriff, it baffles her why Tyler seems so upset about it.

Tyler is trying to raise his daughter, Jess and make her feel like she's wanted. Her mother had sent her to live with Tyler because she got pregnant. Jess was told over and over that she ruined Janet's (the mother) life so why wouldn't she be ruining Tyler's too. When the resort is suddenly booked full and they need the cabin that Brenna is staying in, Tyler isn't going to let her go stay with her ridged parents he offers her a room at his house. He can handle it, of course he's noticed that Brenna is attractive, he'd be blind not to. He just won't let himself go there because their friendship is worth more than a roll in the snow and that is all he knows how to do. Relationships are foreign to him, he hasn't ever had a successful one. With Brenna living right next door to his room though it makes things hard ( pun intended).

Brenna is so shy and sweet that I loved watching her figure out how to live with the secrets she carried. She never told Tyler who had been the bully that tormented her all through school but when he finds out, he's so angry that she lived with it for so long. Her mom seems like a horrible person but in the end she really is just looking out for Brenna, she doesn't want her heart broken like she felt Tyler could do.  After she finally shares her feelings with Tyler and he freaks out, she gets a back bone and lets him know that she can't stay if he doesn't feel the same way, she can't live in silence anymore.

There is also Jess, she's dealing with something at school too. Jess won't talk to anyone about it she just wants to ski and make her dad proud. When Janet comes to town out of the blue, Jess is worried that she'll have to go back with her.

I loved this book, I don't know why it was my favorite but it was. Tyler has love for Brenna he just thinks its a friendship love. When he examines it he finds that it could of been real love all along. I loved seeing Jackson, Kayla, Sean, Elise and all of the O'Neils. I hope that there are more books from Snow Crystal. Check out these books, you won't regret it, they are sweet and hot.
