No Christmas Like the Present

Lindsay Miller is knee-deep in Christmas cards and homemade fudge, but she's never felt more like a Grinch. Why can't Christmas be full of magic, like in her favorite movie, A Christmas Carol. . .?

. . .Enter Fred, a sexy and eccentric stranger who arrives at Lindsay's door out of the blue. Dressed like he just stepped out of a Dickens novel, complete with British accent, Fred claims he's a Messenger, sent from "Headquarters" to help her discover the joy of Christmas. But is Fred an angel from above—or just stone cold crazy?

Fred's used to dealing with skeptics. Telling a stranger you've been ordered to inspire holiday cheer is a tough sell. But there's a further complication. Fred's mission is to help Lindsay right the wrongs from her past that have been holding her back. But somehow along the way, they've become wildly attracted to each other—and falling in love is not part of the plan. Fred only has ‘til the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve to guide Lindsay to the magical future she deserves—even if it's a future without him. . .

Thanks to Kensington Books and Netgalley for the book in exchange for an honest review.

So this book. Ok at first I was all ummmmmm, is it really going to be a guy comes to help her get in the Christmas spirit and then leave. Most of all I was worried he was going to help her find someone else. I liked Fred. I thought his character was neat, even if I didn't know what he was. Was he a ghost or an angel?

Alright so we don't really know what Fred is, we just know that he's there to help Lindsey to get in to the real Christmas spirit. She loves Christmas but it's become an obligation. Cards, fudge, gifts and rushing around making all of that happen. She puts up a fake tree and does it all but she doesn't have the serene thoughts about Christmas one should.

Fred is there to make it happen. He feels like there is something more to this assignment than normal.. or he thinks so because he doesn't actually remember going on another mission before this one. He's breaking rules though, he is falling for Lindsey, even though he knows shes meant to go back to an old boyfriend.

Watching them ( I know I read it but I watched it in my head) fight the attraction was hard. They just fit. Simple as that, they just fit. Once Lindsey accepted the fact that Fred wasn't going to go away and  let her guard down a little bit it was easy. They shopped, made fudge and watched the Christmas tree together. Just being was so nice and Lindsey didn't want to go back to the old boyfriend that she had done so wrong ten years ago.

The ending was the best in my opinion.. I'm going to keep that to myself though because it'll ruin everything for you! Get this one, it'll help put you in the Christmas mood. After reading it I wanted to put up all my decorations and tree; it's just the very end of September.. People would talk! Haha!
