Blood Magick by Nora Roberts
County Mayo is rich in the traditions of Ireland, legends that Branna O’Dwyer fully embraces in her life and in her work as the proprietor of The Dark Witch shop, which carries soaps, lotions, and candles for tourists, made with Branna’s special touch.
Branna’s strength and selflessness hold together a close circle of friends and family—along with their horses and hawks and her beloved hound. But there’s a single missing link in the chain of her life: love…
She had it once—for a moment—with Finbar Burke, but a shared future is forbidden by history and blood. Which is why Fin has spent his life traveling the world to fill the abyss left in him by Branna, focusing on work rather than passion.
Branna and Fin’s relationship offers them both comfort and torment. And though they succumb to the heat between them, there can be no promises for tomorrow. A storm of shadows threatens everything that their circle holds dear. It will be Fin’s power, loyalty, and heart that will make all the difference in an age-old battle between the bonds that hold their friends together and the evil that has haunted their families for centuries.
I couldn't wait for this book. I loved the first two in the trilogy but I wanted to savor this one. That didn't happen though. I inhaled it.
In this installment we pick up almost as soon as the last one left off. Branna and her brother Connor, and their cousin Iona make up the three that are to end the terror of Cabhan. With Boyle and Meara at their sides plus Finbar Burke, the blood of Cabhan. Branna has loved Fin for as long as she can remember and she doesn't think that she'll ever stop loving him even though they aren't meant to be. He has the mark of Cabhan and she is the of the Three slated with ending him.
SO much goes on in this book. I don't want to ruin the series for anyone, but this book was the best out of the series in my opinion. Branna and Fin obviously love each other, but they fight it because they don't want the curse on Fin to go to any children they could have. They have to end Cahban and end the curse for any chance of a normal life.
I loved the relationship that Branna had with Fin, The battle they eventually have with Cahban is epic. I love that they were able to talk to the first three. Being able to catch up with the other couples from the other books was great too. While I thought it was a fantastic book, I thought that the ending was a bit rushed and I was left feeling incomplete.
