Captive

Captive by Brighton Walsh

He’s the most dangerous man she’s ever met…and she’s falling in love with him.

Madison Frost is desperate to escape her life. Daughter of a prominent businessman, she has everything a girl could ask for. Except for a family who’s present in her life, and anyone to talk to outside the four walls of the prison she calls home. Madison dreams of one day leaving her life behind. She never thought being kidnapped is how it would happen.

Now she’s being held captive by a man who’s as frightening as he is sinfully gorgeous. Enormous, muscular, and filled with secrets, the man they call Ghost is an enigmatic mercenary, and Madison is trapped with him. She doesn’t know who hired him or why, but the more time she spends at his mercy, the more she realizes he’s not what he seems. Beneath his rough exterior lies an unexpected gentleness and a heart as broken and battered as her own.

But as Madison lets down her walls, Ghost holds tight to his, hiding secrets that could destroy everything.

Thanks to St. Martins Press and Netgalley for the book in exchange for an honest review.

I don't even know where to start with this one. I went in thinking how can the author make me like a guy that is a bad guy, he's a kidnapper. She proved me wrong and made me really, really like Ghost and in the end I even had some different feelings for him.

Madison (Maddie) puts on a show everyday she leaves her house. She does what she's supposed to do; goes to school and gets good grades. At home though, she takes care of her alcoholic mother and is ignored by both of her parents. All her dad cares about is work and making his next billion. She doesn't have friends, except for the woman that works as their maid.  This particular morning Maddie deals with all the trials that is her life and goes to school and her study group, just like any other day except when she leaves to go home she's taken. When she wakes up shes disoriented, groggy and not alone. The man that took her doesn't bother to hide his face, he's scary and that's enough. She knows she has try to get out but hes so big and intimidating that she knows she won't win.

Ghost is just doing what he's always done, trying to hustle to live. He's good at his 'job'. He knows how make sure no one notices him which is hard for such a big guy. All Ghosts knows is he wants to get paid and now the plan is changing; he's going to have to keep the girl longer then he was and is comfortable with. Something is different with this one, something more is going on and he doesn't like being yanked around. He tries to hold back any and all of the feelings he's having but somehow Maddie cracks his shield.

I really really didn't want to like this guy, I mean hello, he's a kidnapper. That alone should make me not like him but it doesn't. He's something else and Maddie is too. She may seem like she lets everyone walk all over her and to some extent she does, but she knows she has to fight back in this instant. She knows if she doesn't she could possibly die. The more they interact though the more she realizes that there is more to Ghost than she first thought and she likes him. Also let me say that the things that go on between them, HOT.. I mean smoking hot. RUN.. I'm not saying anything else, because I want the book to be a surprise. Leave the author love, she most definitely deserves it.
