Silver Linings by Debbie Macomber
Since opening the Rose Harbor Inn, Jo Marie Rose has met fascinating people from all walks of life, but none have piqued her interest quite like handyman Mark Taylor. Jo Marie and Mark are good friends—and are becoming something more—yet he still won’t reveal anything about his past. When Mark tells her that he’s moving out of town, Jo Marie is baffled. Just when she is starting to open herself up again to love, she feels once more that she is losing the man she cares about. As she grapples with Mark’s decision and tries to convince him to stay, she welcomes two visitors also seeking their own answers.
Best friends Kellie Crenshaw and Katie Gilroy have returned to Cedar Cove for their ten-year high school reunion, looking to face down old hurts and find a sense of closure. Kellie, known as Coco, wants to finally confront the boy who callously broke her heart. Katie, however, wishes to reconnect with her old boyfriend, James—the man she still loves and the one who got away. As Katie hopes for a second chance, Coco discovers that people can change—and both look to the exciting possibilities ahead.
Heartwarming and uplifting, Silver Linings is a beautiful novel of letting go of the past and embracing the unexpected.**
Once again I am enamored by Debbie Macomber's words. I have rarely met a book written by this author that I don't love and this one is no exception. Once again we go to the Rose Harbor Inn, Jo Marie is dealing with Mark again. He told her he loved her and now he says he's leaving. She doesn't know what to do but she can't focus on that too much, she's got guests coming to the inn for their high school reunion. He does leave though and it forces her to face what she's feeling for him.
Katie and Kellie (Coco) are back in Cedar Cove for their ten year high school reunion. Katie is looking to reconnect with the one she let get away. When they were eighteen years old, they were so in love, ready to marry. Things didn't work out that way and Katie broke James' heart. All she wants to do is explain that she felt like she didn't have a choice to break up with him. Sometimes though second chances don't happen. She has to try though.
Coco is back for more than the reunion. She was treated horribly in high school by the big man on campus. Shes back for redemption. She has something to say and she's waited ten years to do it. The wind is knocked out of her sails when the BMOC apologizes. She feels like a weight has been lifted. She meets a mystery man, he knows her but she can't place him. It's driving her crazy! Coco brought her year book with her so she searches and finds out its a guy that was super dorky and had asked her to homecoming. He didn't look the same but she was fascinated and remembered he had asked her to the dance. Mostly she remembered how she treated him later. Coco wasn't very nice and she felt like she needed to make it up to him. Just because her issue she came with was resolved easily didn't mean the one she wanted to fix would be as easy.
I loved this book. Every time I read a book by Debbie Macomber I feel like I'm going home. The characters that show up unexpectedly make me smile and I love the new characters too. I know my recap is a bit of a gloss over but I don't want to give away all of the stuff going on. It's another hit and I'm sad I read it so fast because its over and now the wait begins for the next book. I can't even be upset because the books are lovely. Leave the author love in the form of a review.
