Finding Focus

Finding Focus by Jiffy Kate

Sheridan “Dani” Reed is a recently unemployed photojournalist living in New York City. Her boyfriend is vacationing without her, and her best friend has abandoned her for a job in the south.

Is a quarter-life crisis a thing?

After accepting a freelance job in Louisiana for Southern Style magazine, she feels the bleakness of her life back in New York fading in the rearview mirror. Getting back to her southern roots seems to be just what she needs to lift her spirits and spark her creativity. During her stay, she meets playboy Micah Landry and his colorful family. She knows she should avoid him and keep things professional, but his southern charms are hard to resist.

Through the lens of her camera, she finds the beauty and soul of the Landry Plantation, but it’s her beauty and soul that capture Micah’s attention.

When an unexpected phone call takes her back to New York, she’s forced to face the life she was trying to escape head on.

Will her trip and the Landrys only become fond memories, or will Dani find her way back to them and her beloved south?**

Thanks to the authors for the book in exchange for a honest review.

Dani is adrift right now. She lost her job and she's not enjoying the relationship she's in anymore. Especially since he's leaving on vacation by himself. Sureeee by himself! Her best friend calls in the nick of time with a freelance job in Louisiana. It was the perfect thing for her at the time. Bag packed she set off on what she hoped was the first in many jobs.  Being in Louisiana is just like being home, the area soothes her soul.

Her job is to photograph the Landry Plantation. She falls in love with it, its beautiful and it makes her feel more alive than ever. The house and the people make her feel right at home. Anne Landry is the mom and she's in charge. Dani can't help but love her and everyone there. Then she meets Micah. She doesn't know his name just yet but our first sight of him isn't in the most flattering light. He's a bit of a playboy, but something about the way he is is intriguing to Dani.

Micah makes not apologies for the way he lives his life. He's single and young, why shouldn't he live the way he wants? He meets Dani and he wants to 'straighten' up. He likes her but he knows he's got to take it slow with her but she's worth it!

Life works in mysteries ways, now that Dani has experienced true family she is hesitant to go back to her dull life in New York. When she goes back she's not happy, in fact she's even more unhappy to be away from everything she grew to love in Louisiana.

I really enjoyed Dani and Micah's story. They were adorable together. Easy and peaceful. I read this one in an afternoon and like always regretted it as soon as I was finished. I tend to read books that I love and get sucked in to. I don't come up for air until I'm finished with them and this was one of those books. Grab it today here. Leave some love in the form of a review!
