Last First Kiss

Last First Kiss by Lia Riley

A kiss is only the beginning...

Pinterest Perfect. Or so Annie Carson’s life appears on her popular blog. Reality is... messier. Especially when it lands her back in one-cow town, Brightwater, California, and back in the path of the gorgeous six-foot-four reason she left. Sawyer Kane may fill out those wranglers, but she won’t be distracted from her task. Annie just needs the summer to spruce up and sell her family’s farm so she and her young son can start a new life in the big city. Simple, easy, perfect.

Sawyer has always regretted letting the first girl he loved slip away. He won’t make the same mistake twice, but can he convince beautiful, wary Annie to trust her heart again when she’s been given every reason not to? And as a single kiss turns to so much more, can Annie give up her idea of perfect for a forever that’s blissfully real.**

Thanks to the author, Lia Riley and  Avon Impulse/Harper Collins for the book in exchange for a honest review.

Annie is back home in Brightwater, California, recently divorced and struggling with keeping up the persona that she has on her blog. The thing is she's not that perfect mommy she claims to be, but who is?! The home she grew up in is falling apart, and her dad left the fixing up and getting ready to sell up to her. When she left home she never wanted to come back. Her whole family was ridiculed because they were different, the Kooky Carsons.  Nothing's changed on that front, everyone still sees her as a Kooky Carson, even though shes a grown woman now.

Sawyer is the sheriff and he loves Brightwater. He just belongs there, his family has been in this town for generations. When he was young he was in love with a girl, and she left. He's always regretted that. Now he finds out from his grandma that the girl is back. Maybe he's got a chance at the girl that got away. Hopefully he can convince her to take a chance on him.

I really enjoyed reading Annie's story. As a stay at home mom myself we put TONS of pressure on everything we do, because people judge us. We don't cook; we're lazy. We cook too much; we're showing off. Organic, not organic, the list is never ending. The pressure Annie felt to be perfect is real. On top of all that she had to fix up the house, that was falling down around her and get it to sell so that her dad and sister could profit from it too. Oh and so she could move on. She didn't feel like she was worthy of Sawyer wanting to be with her or even loving her. The barriers she built up since her divorce well maybe even since she was a kid were locked in tight. It was fun seeing the barriers chipped away and she slowly realized that the town may think she's a Kooky Carson but she didn't have to let it get to her. She had to be happy with Annie and everything else would fall in to place, eventually.

This was a easy story to read, sure there was some minimal drama but in the end it was about love conquering all. It was about loving yourself to let others love and see the real you. It was about embracing your flaws and knowing that they didn't define you. Check it out and let the author know how you felt in a review.
