Lover Mine Black Dagger Brotherhood #8

John Matthew has come a long way since he was found living among humans, his vampire nature unknown to himself and to those around him. After he was taken in by the Brotherhood, no one could guess what his true history was- or his true identity. Indeed, the fallen Brother Darius has returned, but with a different face and a very different destiny. As a vicious personal vendetta takes John into the heart of the war, he will need to call up on both who he is now and who he once was in order to face off against evil incarnate.

Xhex, a symphath assassin, has long steeled herself against the attraction between her and John Matthew. Having already lost one lover to madness, she will not allow the male of worth to fall prey to the darkness of her twisted life. When fate intervenes, however, the two discover that love, like destiny, is inevitable between soul mates.

Summary via Good reads

I am a fan of this series, however the layout of these books is starting to get annoying. It feels like these stories are being dragged out. There are too many words conveying the story.

John has always been one of my favorite characters. His emotional attachment to Xhex is one of the deepest of the series. When we last left Xhex, she was taken by Lash during the conclusion of the battle at the sympath camp. When the book starts, we quickly see Lash's abnormal attachment to Xhex. Even though he has be turned by the Omega, his vampire desire to mate is still there. He holds her as his sex slave bound in a room by a spell that only he controls.

Second, is the early history of Xhex and how she was born. We see how Tohr and Darius played a very important role in her life.

Next, was the development of Payne and the pity that I felt for the Scribe Virgin.

Then there was an odd story. Even though I knew who the ghost was, I didn't care for the story of Eliahu Rathbone.

JX's story was amazing. No matter how Xhex fought the attachment, John always put her before anything. Her past and fears of her sympath abilities almost drove them apart. Their story is truly amazing and this is how I pictured John when Xhex finally asked him to fuck her.

I was annoyed by the time I got to Lash's death scene. I found myself skimming the story and wishing it over. I had to stop myself several times and remind myself as to why I loved these books. Then the unexpected happened. We were told who No'One was, Xhex asking for the mating ceremony. V and Payne finally meeting. Folks, I had chills when she was walking down the stairs in the red dress that Tohr gave her. Chills!

Finally, there is the story of Blay and Quhinn. Folks, they need to GET IT ON! The sexual tension between these two is so strong. Q just needs to buck it up and slip Blay some dick. Blay, however is almost tired of waiting, so he starts to see Saxton, Quhinn's cousin. These chapters are riddled with Quhinn's agony over his hidden love for Blay and his fear of not being accepted by the Glymera for it.

JUST DO IT!!!
