Temptation in a Kilt

Temptation in a Kilt by Victoria Roberts

She's On Her Way to Safety

It's a sign of Lady Rosalia Armstrong's desperation that she's seeking refuge in a place as rugged and challenging as the Scottish Highlands. She doesn't care about hardship and discomfort, if only she can become master of her own life. Laird Ciaran MacGregor, however, is completely beyond her control...

He Redefines Dangerous...

Ciaran MacGregor knows it's perilous to get embroiled with a fiery Lowland lass, especially one as headstrong as Rosalia. Having made a rash promise to escort her all the way to Glengarry, now he's stuck with her, even though she challenges his legendary prowess at every opportunity. When temptation reaches its peak, he'll be ready to show her how he really is...on and off the battlefield.**

Rosalia is expected to marry well and soon because her parents are broke. Her mother is horrible to her and is abusive to not only Rosalia but also Rosalia's father. One day while at court Rosalia, after being verbal chastised she sees a man watching her and is quite taken with him.  She knows though that no man as bonny as this one would ever look her way, she was fat and unattractive.  The next day she leaves court to prepare for a man to come and basically make sure he wanted to marry her. He is a foul man, he is creepy and makes Rosalia feel dirty. When she decides that she can't marry this man and tells her mother so, her mother beats her. She knows now the only way out is to flee. She cuts her hair and wears the stable boy's clothes and runs as far as she can until the pain she's in is so fierce that she passes out and falls off her horse.

When Ciaran finally gets to leave court, he's ready to be back in his own home in the highlands. After running his men hard they finally take a break and find a boy passed out near a black horse.  They take the boy back to their camp and make sure he's alright and let him sleep. The next morning when Ciaran is trying to see what the boy's injuries are he finds that the boy is actually a woman and damn if she doesn't have beautiful skin. He takes Rosalia under his protection and that's it, final, he will not start something with her. He can't. In the end I don't think he can help it.

This was a lovely tale. Watching Rosalia fit right in with his clan and family. It was an easy read and I enjoyed it very much. I'm looking forward to reading the next one with Declan's story in it. He's Ciaran's baby brother, and he's a bit of a rogue.
