Lover Avenged Black Dagger Brotherhood #7

Caldwell, New York, has long been the battleground for the vampires and their enemies, the Lessening Society. It's also where Rehvenge has staked out his turf as a drug lord and owner of a notorious night club that caters to the rich and heavily armed. His shadowy reputation is exactly why he's approached to kill Wrath, the Blind King and leader of the Brotherhood.

Rehvenge has always kept his distance from the Brotherhood-even though his sister is married to a member, for he harbors a deadly secret that could make him a huge liability in their war against the lessers. As plots within and outside of the Brotherhood threaten to reveal the truth about Rehvenge, he turns to the only source of light in his darkening world, Ehlena, a vampire untouched by the corruption that has its hold on him-and the only thing standing between him and eternal destruction

Summary via Goodreads:

This series has taken many twists and turns for me. I had very high expectations for this book since we got a glimpse into Rehvenge's world in Lover Enshrined.

Here are some of the major plot developments.

1. Rehvenge and Ehlena. Their relationship, like Phury and Cormia was crazy. Ehlena was perfect for him. She came from an established family and had the backbone to not only stand up to Rev, but his band of bodyguards. I can see how the phrase, "opposites attract" really came into play here.

2. John Matthew and his love for Xhex. This is one crazy love affair. There was a time, where I thought it was going to work out. Then the chair was pulled out from under us. I think John's story is going to be amazing. Xhex's demons are just as deep as John's. It's going to be nice to see them play out.

3. Lash. He had an interesting development in this story. The battle scene at the end of the book was great. I was really liking his new powers courtesy of his father. Again, John's book is going to be great when these two finally meet.

4. The sexual tension between Blay and Qhuinn is tangible. Granted, Q is still screwing women, there is something there. He doesn't want to admit it.

5. Wrath. I was surprised to see his development in this book. He is stricken with an issue that I feel causes him to fully ascend to the throne. Great sub plot J.R.!!!

6. The biggest disappointment was the development of the sympath story. I felt like there was so much left out. There could have been so much more given to us. You only got to see very little of the colony and how their unique abilities would be a  help to the Brotherhood. I hope more develops soon.

 7. Rev's place in the world is clearly defined. The moments between him and Wrath at the end of the book were very touching. "We both have to be kings," A nice end to a very good book.

"At that, Rehvenge’s head lifted as the thick scent of cinnamon filled his senses, instantly turning his numb body warm. His female was close, and it’d bee a few hours since they had occupied their bed together. Well fuck him if a slight chase of his prey didn’t turn the bastard on.
Licking the tips of his fangs, he picked up his pace as his cane kept him grounded. He kept himself so doped up here on the account of none of the Brotherhood would enjoy the likes of him snooping around in their inner thoughts and past, but the thought had crossed his mind more than once. Damn the sin-eater blood that coursed through his veins, Rehv growled to himself as he rounded a corner; his sable coat barely kept up with him as his pace quickened more.

There; there she was. The one thing that made his sick and twisted life worth living, the one that kept him here and away from the darker shadows of life. His light. His life. His Ehlena."
