With the Band by L.A. Witt is an incredibly intense read from the very beginning.
From the first moment that Aaon and Bastian meet, the sexual tension between them is palpable and even when Aaron isn't sure that Bastian swings his way, he can't help the electricity he feels when he's in the same room as Bastian and the signals that Bastian throws at him make him wonder if maybe he's not always hallucinating or it's not always wishful thinking.
When Bastian initiates the first kiss with Aaron it's magical, almost like a religious experience. The way these two just work together is fucking incredible and it's so beautiful to watch as it continues to build into something that neither one of them expected. The problem is that their families don't know about them being together/gay/bi-sexual and the even bigger problem is that they are in the same band together (along with Aaron's older brother and sister and Bastian's younger brother) and Aaron's last relationship with a band member ended so badly that it disolved his entire band.
Watching the relationship between these two unfold from just crazy passionate sex to pure unbridled love is like watching a fire begin as kindling and transform into a roaring raging inferno in all it's beauty yet knowing that it has the potential to destroy everything in it's path.
Of course, it has to blow up somewhere right? When Bastian's crazy phychotic ex-fiance drops the bomb on the rest of the band members at the battle of the band, things get messy.
The pressure and icy tension they have to put up with from the band members when they are just about to hit it big it a lot to deal with but apparently it's too much for Bastian to handle and he calls it quits, thinking that's the best thing for the band but boy was he wrong. The failed attempts to work everything out between the band members almost takes the band down with them and crushes Aaron's heart in the midst of it all. The heartfail in the last 25% of the book is nearly too much to handle once you've seen just how perfect those boys are together. You almost want to say 'fuck the band' and just root for these two boys to get back to where they were before it all went downhill.
The book as a whole was so incredibly good that I couldn't put it down and I'm still reflecting on the impact the book had on me. The author brought me to emotional highs and lows in which the good parts were so good and the sex was so much more than just sex to points where I was sure I could feel my own heart shattering right along with Aaron's and I was begging Bastian to figure out a way to put both our hearts back together again.
Words can't express how good the writing is with this book. I'd give this book 6 or more stars if I had the option and I think anyone who likes hot rockstars and a book full of passion and emotion will absolutely love this book as much as I did.
