Family and friends insist she’s not the one to ease his pain, but Aubrey sparks an intense desire that gives Ben hope for the future.
Determined to right the wrongs of her past, Aubrey is working hard to make amends. But by far, the toughest challenge to her plan is sexy, brooding Ben …even though he has absolutely no idea what she’s done…
Can this unlikely couple defy the odds and win over the little town of Lucky Harbor?**
I waited ever so impatiently for this book and I wasn't disappointed in it. This is number 9 in a series and while it is it's own story I highly recommend that you read the others first. Not only are they awesome but when you 'see' the other characters in the books you just get the whole story and so when you get to certain characters books you've had a preview!
It seems like if it could go wrong in Aubrey's life it would. She had a boyfriend and a great job but then found out that the boyfriend wasn't exactly being faithful so she got rid of him and then had to quit her job because he was her boss.. Oh right I forgot to mention that little tidbit. Turns out hes a bigger tool than we had previously thought because now he's written a tell all book and shes in it.
When she confronts said tool, he turns it around like he's being a great person letting people know about his life. Like the book is a gift to the masses. She gets frustrated with him and throws her drink at him but he ducks and it hits the guy beside him. Ben McDaniels. He's Lucky Harbor's prodigal son, back from dangerous places. He went to the same high school she did and she had a mad crush on him.
Ben was glad to be back in Lucky Harbor. His Aunt Dee and cousin Jack were there. They took him in when he was a kid so they're family. They also helped him when his wife died suddenly and also took care of his things while he was off on the missions he took. He's happy with his single life, his wife was gone so he wasn't really looking for anything. Then he began working in Aubrey's books store and he was wondering what her lists were about, so he became more involved with her. Now all he does is think about her, she stars in his dreams and he just can't get her out of his head.
There is just so much more going on with this story. You can see that Aubrey is a good girl she just had a past where she was a mess. This was the only time I saw people in Lucky Harbor be mean to someone. It wasn't the usual cast of characters that treated her badly. Run and read and leave the author love in the form of a review!!
