Morning Star (Red Rising #3)

Darrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society's mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.

Finally, the time has come.

But devotion to honor and hunger for vengeance run deep on both sides. Darrow and his comrades-in-arms face powerful enemies without scruple or mercy. Among them are some Darrow once considered friends. To win, Darrow will need to inspire those shackled in darkness to break their chains, unmake the world their cruel masters have built, and claim a destiny too long denied - and too glorious to surrender.

Amazing that I waited so long to finish this series. I was shocked at the end of the second book and even more so at the end of this one.

Brown has developed a landscape that any sci-fi geek would love. A space war! What else could be better? Humanity has conquered the solar system and a single leader has been subjugating an entire species.

Has humanity not learned? Our history is littered with totalitarian leaders and what usually occurs. As a species, we do not subjugate well.

This series is no different. A society littered with a caste system and we have a hero in Darrow and this is his story. The finale.

As you read this book, you will be at the edge of your seat. From Darrow's rescue to the conclusion of plot lines. Be warned, there is several things that we assume will turn out for the forces of good.

You will find.

Death-Some of my favorite characters find their end.

Suspense- Mustang and Darrow have a lot of issues to resolve.

Love-Yes, there are some warm, mushy bits.

The universe will never be the same after the final battle. The Jackle and Sovereign will face judgment. The question remains. How will everything function after this world ends.

Great book!

Until next time,
