What a story here. We learn how Rumple is Rapunzel's father. Their life is poor and one where the next winter could kill them. We see that Rapunzel learns that she could weave her hair into gold and they think that they have the perfect answer for their plight.
We see why the Queen comes and takes his daughter. Why the town they live in is isolated form the rest of the kingdom. Also, why the Frankenstein reference comes into play. Perhaps the most shocking is why he has to take the lives of the first born children. Rumpelstein as he is now called, meets someone that will help him find his daughter.
An interesting little twist on a classic story.

This story is told by Sandman Grimm. In this story we are given a treat. We see more of Snow's birth and the hell that the Queen went through to bring her into this world. There are so many spoilers in this little tale, that I do not want to tell you too much.
Except,
1. The Queen knew her daughter was a vampire before she was born.
2. I wonder how it happened?
3. She was given a choice by a very interesting character to end the pregnancy before Snow was born.
A mother's love knows no bounds. I actually feel bad for the Queen in this story.
