We are the Dolophoni. Diligent. Vigilan. Fierce and inescapable. Servants of the Furies, we are the right hand of justice and no one stands before us...
The son of Warcraft and Hate, Cratus spent eternity battling for the ancient gods who birthed him. He was death to any who crossed him. Until the day he laid down his arms and walked into self-imposed exile. Now an ancient enemy has been unleashed and our dreams are his chosen battlefield. The only hope we have is the one god who swears he will never fight again.
As a Dream-Hunter, Delphine has spent eternity protecting mankind from the predators who prey on our unconscious state. But now that her allies have been turned, she knows in order to survive, the Dream-Hunters need a new leader. Someone who can train them to fight their new enemies. Cratus is her only hope. But she is a bitter reminder of why he chose to lay down his arms.
Time is running out and if she can't win him to her cause, mankind will be slaughtered and the world we know will soon cease to exist.
I continue to have issues with this spin off of the main Dark Hunter series. I will continue to read them as they are part of the world that Kenyon has created. However subpar on many levels, this was the better of the three Dream Hunter novels.
We have the story of Cratus, a god that due to one act of kindness was damned by Zeus and cursed to a life of solitude, poverty and nights where he is killed in his dreams by the Dolophoni.
Enter one Delphine. Unknown to all, she was the act of kindness that Cratus showed those many years ago.
She is a Oneroi. She is sent to persuade Cratus or Jericho to come back into the fold and not join Azure and Noir. She fails and the only way to win him back is win his heart. Nike, the goddess of victory and Cratus' sister give Delphine the only option to save the world.
Delphine is abducted and given to Cratus. He realizes that he has been tricked and frees Delphine and they forge an alliance bringing the Oneroi and the Skoti together to battle the gallu demons that the ancient gods have summoned.
Of course, the tow love birds work out their differences and the Oneroi declare themselves independent but have aligned themselves with the greek gods to help with the fight.
Positives
1. We see a little of Jayden (who and what the hell is he?)
2, Jared makes a flash. We know some of his story from the prior book and CON.
3. The Source and how it works is refreshed for us.
Negatives
1. This is a Dream Hunter Book
2. Too many minor characters.
3. Mythology is great, however it seems to kill the mood of the story.
